Whether you relish or dread it each week, bin day is a hot topic of conversation in neighbourhoods.

Nobody wants to miss bin day because if you don’t get your wheelie bin out to the kerb, there’s a chance your rubbish won’t be picked up, leading to an accumulation of stinky waste. Yet, there’s no denying that bin collection day can be somewhat inconvenient.

Firstly, you’ve got to remember to take your bins out – and then you have to drag them back onto your property from the street. It might not be a time-consuming task, but it’s certainly a nuisance, particularly if you’re dealing with more than one bin.

However, a woman has now revealed a ‘game-changing’ trick that promises to make moving multiple bins a breeze – and it’s got people eager to give it a go. Charli, a mother of two, took to TikTok to share her tip, and her video has since gone viral, racking up over 630.9k views.

In her clip, the 33 year old is heard explaining: “Hack for you all, to put the bins away, so you don’t have to come back to do them separate.” The clever technique involves linking two bins together, allowing you to wheel them in tandem effortlessly.

To execute this, you position the two bins side by side, then open the lid of one bin. Next, you tuck the lid of the second bin into the first, before closing the first bin’s lid over both. This simple yet ingenious method means when you move one bin, the other tags along, eliminating the need for multiple trips.

Many people were impressed by the hack and eager to test it themselves. One individual commented: “Omg deffo trying this now,” while another said: “So doing this in a minute,” and a third remarked: “Rite that’s me come this Thursday. Makes my life easier.”

“This is handy when you have more than 2 bins to move,” noted someone else. Another person hailed it as “genius” and yet another added: “Can’t wait to try this.”

It’s also important to remember proper wheelie bin etiquette. You should only put your bin out on collection day – not several days before. And once it’s been emptied, make sure to bring it back in. Additionally, take care not to obstruct driveways, bus stops, cycle lanes, or pavements.

A spokesperson from Garden Buildings Direct warned that if the placement of your wheelie bin is or could become a nuisance, you might face a fine of up to £80.
