The shooting of Ahmaud Arbery
Ahmaud Arbery was living in Georgia, the United States, he was shot down by the attackers while he was jogging on holmes road in Glynn County. Arbery was graduated from Brunswick High School in 2012, he was fond of jogging and exercises according to his family statement. He was also a football player, His family has described him as a good, generous young man with a big heart. He would have turned 26 in May. Three attackers killed Arbery, they were white and the residents of the nearby area. Travis McMichael & his father Gregory McMichael were armed and driving a truck. A third attacker was Bryan he was the neighbor of Travis and his father Gregory. Bryan was following Arbery in the second vehicle he also recorded the incident of the Arbery death from his cell phone.
Attackers Detail of Ahmed Arbery
- Gregory McMichael is the father of Travis, Gregory was 64 years old, Gregory previously worked as a GCPD officer from 1982 to 1989, and as an investigator for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office from 1995 to his retirement in May 2019.
- Travis McMichael age 34 is a son of Gregory.
- William Bryan age 50 was a neighbor of Travis & Gregory, he recorded the shooting from his cell phone.
The three attackers were charged with the murder of an unarmed black man in Georgia, they are in the custody of the Glynn County Sheriff’s Department. They were detained by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on 7 May 2020 while Bryan who shot the video was arrested on 21 May 2020. White man ‘used racial slur’ after shooting black joggers.

Ahmaud was killed during the jogging, According to the policy, Gregory saw Ahmaud was running in his neighborhood, and though he is a thief and believed he looked like a burglary suspect. Gregory called his son and two other armed men, they started chasing the Ahmaud in a vehicle. 64 years old Gregory told Ahmaud “Stop, Stop, don’t run, we want to talk to you” but Ahmaud didn’t listen, according to Gregory an African American man Ahmaud attacked his son Travis, then three shots were fired and Arbery fell on the street. The attackers were having a pistol and shotgun, a video of this incident was being filmed by William Bryan (A neighbor of Travis and Gregory).
The video of this incident went viral on 5 May 2020, the 36 seconds clip was recorded from a Bryan vehicle. In the video, it was seen that Arbery was jogging and approaching a stationary pickup truck that is ahead of him on the road. The second man was seeing with a pistol in his hand. Another video on 10 May 2020, went viral where a man to be believed Arbery at a home construction site shortly before the shooting. A video is taken from the surveillance camera showing “a black man in a white T-shirt walks onto the site and is seen looking around for a few minutes before leaving and jogging down the street.”
