Afghanistan: The Afghan Taliban have announced a three-day ceasefire during the Eid ul-Fitr
Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement posted on Twitter that
“The group’s leadership instructs all the mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to take special measures for the security of the countrymen, and conduct no offensive operation against the enemy anywhere.”
President Ashraf Ghani welcomed the offer of the Afghan Taliban and ordered his forces to also comply the same, while the U.S. envoy to Afghanistan hailed the deal as a “momentous opportunity.”
