Harry Kane enjoyed a sensational return to England this week with a Champions League goal against Arsenal – and he’s broken his silence on reports linking him with a permanent move back to the country.
Kane stunned the Premier League by deciding to quit it for the Bundesliga in the summer, despite having a number of options to remain in England. The striker had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, only for the Old Trafford outfit to pull out of the running.
That was 12 months after Kane came within a whisker of moving to Manchester City, only for Tottenham Hotspur chief Daniel Levy to block the deal. Since his monster move to Bayern Munich in the summer, Kane has been tipped with a return to the Premier League, especially as he was on the verge of beating Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record.

United boss Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of the player and was keen to bring him to Old Trafford, while since Sir Jim Ratcliffe joined as co-owner a move for Kane has again been mooted. However, the England captain insists his future is at Bayern Munich, putting to rest any speculation.
He said: “I’m really enjoying my experience in Germany and it was a step that I needed in my career for a fresh stimulus, a fresh challenge and new surroundings, new stadiums, new teams and I’m really happy that I made the move.
“Of course, I know how big the Premier League is, I played there for so many years before and my future is at Bayern Munich. I have a four-year contract, I’m really enjoying it, hopefully I will be able to make something special happen this season.
“But if not, I’ll be ready to go again in the summer and turn things around. It’s been a disappointing season in the Bundesliga mainly compared to what Leverkusen have done. You have to give them credit and respect but Arsenal was a chance to show our togetherness and we’ve done that.”
Kane was Ten Hag’s preferred striker target but United were discouraged from bidding for the Tottenham talisman due to chairman Levy’s resistance to selling Kane to another Premier League club. United had no intention of “playing games” with Levy, and turned their attention to Rasmus Hojlund, who arrived in a £72million deal from Atalanta.
Ten Hag said about the deal: “We consider a lot of things but finally we make decisions, we don’t take decisions overnight, there is a strategy in every decision behind and we are happy with the squad we have behind us now.
“We have chosen a striker and we are really happy with our choice. He (Kane)’s a great striker, clear. A goal-maker and apart from that he has all the conditions and abilities that you want to see in a striker. It’s a miss for the Premier League, absolutely.”
Bayern’s underwhelming performance this season in the league looks set to see them lose their Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, managed by Xabi Alonso. For Kane, however, the campaign has been another littered with personal milestones. His penalty against Arsenal was his 39th goal in just 38 games.
United, meanwhile, are weighing up whether to make a big-money move for a forward this summer. As well as Kane they have been linked with Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. But having spent big on Hojlund last summer, the feeling is they will allow the young Dane to flourish.
