Jennifer Lopez has attended the gala more than a dozen times, but it’s her first time as a co-chair. Hours before the red carpet, the multihyphenate vowed she’d bring in the style department, saying the event is about fashion, not function.
“I can’t tell you anything about [my dress] — you’ll have to tune in to see,” Lopez teased on Good Morning America. Asked if she’d be able to walk, she replied, “Barely, ever. The Met Gala looks are not about comfort.” But it’s worth the style sacrifice, she said, adding, “It’s a fun night for fashion.”
Lopez goes to lots of events, but she said the Met Gala is special because “it’s such an interesting mix of artists and business people. It’s not just music or film, it’s everybody — fashion, film, music, business — and you get to have some really interesting interactions.”
