Morgan Wallen was arrested Sunday night on reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct charges after he allegedly threw a chair from the rooftop of a Nashville bar.

Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, confirmed the arrest in a statement provided to Variety by the singer’s team.

“At 10:53p Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities,” Robinson said.

According to local Nashville news outlet WKRN, Wallen was booked into Metro Jail early on Monday morning and released a few hours later. Arrest documents detailing the incident obtained by WKRN said that two Metropolitan Nashville Police Department officers were standing in front of Chief’s Bar on Broadway when a chair came down the six-story building and hit the street approximately 3 feet away from them. Chief’s staff members then informed the officers that the chair had been thrown by Wallen, which was then allegedly confirmed by security video footage. Wallen was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment for the two officers and for danger to the public, as well as disorderly conduct.

This is not Wallen’s first controversy. In 2021, TMZ released a video of the country singer saying a racial slur, which resulted in several radio stations and streaming services pulling his music and his label, Big Loud, suspending his recording contract. Wallen later apologized in a video posted to his social media channels and donated $300,000 to the Black Music Action Coalition. Despite this, Wallen has remained successful, releasing his third studio album, “One Thing at a Time,” in March 2023 and selling out stadiums on the record’s accompanying tour.
