Nigar Johar promoted to Lieutenant General 1st female of Pakistan Army

Major General Nigar Johar has now been promoted to Lieutenant General she becomes the first female of the Pakistan Army to be promoted as Lt General.

She became the third woman officer to achieve the rank of major general in 2017. Lt Gen Johar’s father Colonel Qadir also served in the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence). She is the niece of Major (R) Mohammad Aamir, a former Pakistan Army officer who faithfully served in the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Pakistan Army Media Wing (ISPR) said in an official press release and via a continual tweet.

 

DG ISPR Major General Babar Ifthikhar has said in a tweet “Johar has been appointed as first female Surgeon General of Pak Army. Lt General Nigar hails from Panjpeer, District Swari KPK, and is currently serving as Commandant Military Hospital Rawalpindi.”

Nigar completed her schooling through the Presentation Convent Girls High School, Rawalpindi in 1978. joined the Army Medical College in 1981 graduating in 1985. Nigar Johar is from the 5th MBBS course of Army Medical College and she has served as female company commander of Ayesha company at the same college.
