Pascal Clement former Minister of Justice passes away at the age of 75

Pascal Clement was a former justice minister and a french politician born in France on 12 May 1945. He last breathed today, he was 75 years old.

Pascal was a lawyer by profession, Pascal was first elected to the National Assembly of France in 1978, where he served until 1993. Pascal was appointed Keeper of the Seals and Minister of Justice under the chairmanship of Jacques Chirac. He also worked on the  Outreau Case .

Pascal was a political leader of the Union for a Popular Movement, a French political party.

According to the Pascal family, Pascal was ill for the past few years as he was having a lung infection, Pascal died from the lung infection however Pascal’s COVID-19 reports were negative.

Nicole Belloubet, Minister of Justice in a press statement on Sunday, praised Pascal’s  “the journey of a man deeply committed to the service of law”, 

 

“I want to pay tribute to my friend Pascal. He welcomed me as a young member of the law commission. When he was appointed Keeper of the Seals, we set up together the “Abduction Alert” system which saved so many young children! “, Write the president of the Ile-de-France region Valérie Pécresse on Twitter.
