A Leeds thug who smashed his way into a pregnant woman’s home with a machete has had his prison sentence doubled.

Creddy Taylor, 21, was handed a four-year sentence in January of this year for his part in the violent armed daytime burglary in Bradford on July 25 last year. The gang’s pregnant victim managed to escape before Taylor, of Gamble Gill Place, ransacked the house and made off with jewellery and other expensive belongings.

He was found guilty of aggravated burglary after a trial. But, following an appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme, he has now had his sentence doubled to eight years.

The scheme allows anyone to ask for certain Crown court sentences to be reviewed by the Attorney General’s Office if they think the sentence is too lenient.

The Solicitor General, Robert Courts KC MP said: “I was appalled to learn of this horrific robbery and extend my sympathies to the victim who went through a traumatic ordeal.

“The court’s intervention is a welcome one and this case should send a stark warning that those who commit violent burglaries will face the full extent of the law for their crimes.”
