A permanent statue of the late Queen Elizabeth II, the first to be commissioned since her death, was unveiled in Rutland’s county town of Oakham on Sunday (21April2024). The permanent memorial unveiled was commissioned by the Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland as a lasting tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, England’s longest reigning and possibly greatest monarch. After falling in love with the Welsh breed as a child, Elizabeth II owned more than 30 corgis from her accession in 1952 until her death in 2022.
