A grand celebration of Pakistan Day was organized at the Pakistani Consulate Office in Barcelona. The Spanish nation, Pakistani community, and others participated in the flag hoisting ceremony.
Barcelona: (International Desk) According to the Global Times News Agency Europe, a Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Pakistan to commemorate the National Day of Pakistan. The event was attended by esteemed guests, including government officials, politicians, representatives of the Consular corps, and members of the Pakistani community, including women and children residing in Barcelona.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran. The undersigned read aloud messages from the Honourable President, Respectable Prime Minister, and Esteemed Foreign Minister of Pakistan to the community, underscoring the significance of the occasion and the unity of the nation.
The undersigned welcomed distinguished guests, emphasizing the importance of the struggle of Muslim leaders, especially Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who was able to lead the Muslims of the subcontinent to have a separate homeland for them. I expressed my gratitude for the presence of the senior Spanish political leadership who attended the event for the first time in the consulate’s history in such large numbers.
Some of the prominent guests were former Governor of Catalonia, Mensurate Garcia, former senator Jose Maria Sala, Ernesto Carrion, Commissioner of Immigration Catalonia, Ms. Arica Toregroca, Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Representative of Mayor Barcelona Ms. Jakeline, Ms. Susana Clerici Lopez, and a member of the opposition party in the parliament. Jose Maria Sala also addressed the event and highlighted the importance of the Pakistani community in the social, economic, and political fabric of Spanish life. He assured full support and cooperation to the consulate in maintaining a secure and friendly environment for the Pakistani community members working in Barcelona.
The event was well-attended by a large number of Pakistani community members, including women and children, who turned out in full support of the celebration. The Pakistani community’s enthusiastic participation added a vibrant and diverse touch to the ceremony, showcasing their deep-rooted connection to their homeland.
As a gesture of appreciation for attending the event, the honorable guests were presented with Ajraks—a symbol of Pakistani culture—and commemorative souvenirs. The Flag Hoisting Ceremony received extensive coverage from both print and electronic media outlets. News agencies captured the event’s essence, emphasizing the unity and cultural richness of our country. In line with Pakistani hospitality, refreshments were served, offering them a taste of Pakistani cuisine.
It may also be mentioned that three different events organized by different sections of our community were held in the afternoon, evening, and night. All these events were attended by the undersigned with a message of unity, faith, and discipline to be maintained by our community in their lives.
