May 4—Verus Research, a New Mexico-based team of scientists and engineers specializing in advanced research and development, inked a five-year, $28 million contract with the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation.
The company specializes in research and development of radio frequency communications for high-power microwave systems and nuclear engineering, with extensive modeling, simulation, testing and design work.
Under the new Airborne Non-Kinetic Systems for Test contract, Verus Research will support the Defense Department’s investments in test and evaluation of directed energy technologies.
“We are honored to receive the new contract from the U.S. Army regarding the test and evaluation of emerging directed energy technologies” said Dr. J. Mark DelGrande, chief technology officer at Verus Research.
The company, which launched in 2014, will also continue developing its Verus Research Reusable Recoverable Airborne Engagement program, which seeks to use a recoverable airborne platform for testing air-to-ground, high-power microwave engagements.
