April 06, 2024

Firefighters managed to rescue a woman whose vehicle was stuck in rising in Dapto, New South Wales, on Saturday, April 6, amid flooding in the Illawarra region.

The flooding came after Sydney and Australia’s east coast were hit by “a month’s worth of rain” on Friday.

Roads were closed and public transport was affected across the region on Saturday, local media reported.

In Dapto, firefighters were called to the scene on Cleveland Road at around 7 a.m on Saturday.

After an unsuccessful attempt at rescuing the woman with a personal flotation device, they were joined by members of the State Emergency Service and reached the woman.

The woman was fitted with a life vest and guided through the floodwaters to safety.
