Harry Kane breaks silence on Premier League return after Tottenham exit and makes future clear

Harry Kane insists his future is at Bayern Munich, putting to rest any speculation about a Premier League return after his fine scoring form against Arsenal.

The hitman, whose record-breaking feats tussled Alan Shearer’s all-time English top-flight goalscoring achievement, chose to swap north London for Germany in what he confesses was “the step he needed for his career”.

Despite Bayern’s underwhelming performance this season which sees them set to lose their Bundesliga title, Kane, who signed a four-year contract after leaving Tottenham, shows no signs of heading back to England. The England captain remains steadfast in his commitment to the Bavarian giants.

Relishing his German adventure, he expressed: “I’m really enjoying my experience in Germany and it was a step that I needed in my career for a fresh stimulus, a fresh challenge and new surroundings, new stadiums, new teams and I’m really happy that I made the move.

“Of course, I know how big the Premier League is, I played there for so many years before and my future is at Bayern Munich. I have a four-year contract, I’m really enjoying it, hopefully I will be able to make something special happen this season.

“But if not, I’ll be ready to go again in the summer and turn things around. It’s been a disappointing season in the Bundesliga mainly compared to what Leverkusen have done. You have to give them credit and respect but Arsenal was a chance to show our togetherness and we’ve done that.”

Harry Kane made an impact on his return to north London, confidently slotting home a penalty as his side secured a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash. Despite netting his 39th goal in 38 appearances, Kane is still at risk of ending the season without silverware.

Bayern Munich’s early exit from the German Cup and Thomas Tuchel conceding the league title to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen has left the Champions League as the sole opportunity for Kane and his team to clinch a trophy this campaign.

“Of course it’s not the season I wanted with the way the league’s gone, the way we got knocked out of the cup early in the season and now we have hopes in the Champions League which would be an amazing achievement.”
