Danny Dean is an American musician, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. He is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the hardcore punk band ‘Anti’ and DIY punk label New Underground Records, which was co-founded by Danny Dean with the late Gary Kail in the late 1970s. Danny’s also known as Danny Phillips aka Danny Dean Phillips, started playing Guitar and Bass in 1978. his 1st Band in Late 1978 was Skinny Memphis [Surf, Rockabilly, Surfabilly, the 50s-60s Rock,]. Danny Dean Phillips was on Guitar/Vocal.
Dean was born in 1965 in Houston, Texas, and raised in Los Angeles, California. In 1980 Dean formed hard-core post-punk band ANTI in the south bay area, did 3 LPs plus comps, he also played in the post-punk band MOOD OF DEFIANCE a san Pedro band. during 1980-1986 he ran a record label called NEW UNDERGROUND RECORDS and also wrote for FLIPSIDE magazine.
In 1984 Danny formed punkabillypoprock band EASTER, with Mike Ness on guitar, recorded 1 lp and 12 inch single, had many songs on KROQ, and Videos on MTV.
In 1991 Dean as the lead singer sang for pop group IGNITION with the guitar player of the band SOMESHINE.
From 1992 till 1995 Dean formed MERCURY TILT SWITCH, 1 cd recorded. Appeared on Good Day LA.
In 1995 He formed Danny Dean and the Hot Rod Orchestra. swingable band with two drummers and horns.
In 1995 he played guitar for punk band ORGANIZED CRIME.
In 1996 He formed his band known as DANNY DEAN and the HOMEWRECKERS, Rockabilly jump-blues swing. still performing, with 3 CDs, many Comps, and many tours.
In 1996 – 2010 he played guitar for Surf spy rock band BIG BOSS FURY.
2000 – He plays guitar for UK synthpop group OMD Orchestral Manoeuvres in the dark – for a tour of the US.
2004 – played guitar for Texas Blues legend JOE HOUSTON.
2007 – started up analog recording studio MOLE TRAX WEST with engineer JEFF MOLESKI.
2011 – Plays guitar for WHEN IN ROME US Tour, Mexico, and also plays guitar on their new single.
2012 – plays guitar for SPECIALS lead guitar player and founder of the ska movement RODDY RADIATION and SKABILLY REBELS on a US tour.

Danny has played guitar for Joe Houston, the Earwigs, and many other old notable musicians. In 2005, he established Mole Trax (recording studio) west with Jeff Moleski in Lakewood, California. he has also opened a chain of analog recording studios from New York to California.
In 1985, Dean formed Easter, a punkabilly pop group with Mike Ness of Social Distortion on rhythm guitar. Their videos played on MTV nationwide, and their music was on a regular rotation on L.A.’s influential alternative radio station, KROQ.
