Lieutenant (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa appointed Special Assistant for Information in place of Firdous Ashiq.

 

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Special Assistant for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan has been removed from his post and Lt. Gen. (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has been appointed in his place.

Besides, it has also been decided to appoint Shibli Faraz, Leader of the House in the Senate, as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting.

Asim Saleem Bajwa is currently the Chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority.

 

Firdous Ashiq Awan has been removed from the post of Special Information.

According to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has been appointed as Special Assistant in an honorary capacity.

According to the notification, the appointment of Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa as Special Assistant will be effective immediately.

Sources said that Quaid-e-Aiwan Shibli Faraz will be sworn in as Federal Minister tomorrow. President Arif Ali will administer the oath of office to him as Federal Minister. After the lifting, the Cabinet Division will issue a formal notification.

In this regard, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said that Shibli Faraz, Leader of the House in the Senate has been made Minister for Information and Broadcasting while former Pakistan Army Spokesman Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has been made Special Assistant for Information.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the team consisting of these two will do its best.

It may be recalled that after the formation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, Fawad Chaudhry was given the portfolio of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Fawad Chaudhry had also criticized the appointment of Firdous Ashiq Awan and said that it was not right to replace the elected people with the unelected ones.

ISLAMABAD: The inside story of the removal of Special Assistant for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan has come to light.

According to ARY News, Special Assistant for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan tried to take a 10% commission from the government’s advertising budget.

Sources said that Firdous Ashiq Awan kept more than the required number of employees on the quota of government TV. He had kept 9 employees including two security guards without permission.

Firdous Ashiq Awan had kept three vehicles that she was not allowed to use. He had also taken cleaners and gardeners from the PTV quota.

According to sources, a report was submitted to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Firdous Ashiq Awan was removed from office.

It may be recalled that some time ago, the government de-notified Firdous Ashiq Awan and appointed Shibli Faraz as Federal Minister for Information while Asim Saleem Bajwa has been appointed as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister.

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on social networking site Twitter congratulated Senator Shibli Faraz on his appointment as Federal Minister for Information and Asim Saleem Bajwa as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information. He said that Shibli Faraz was honorable and honest. Asim Saleem Bajwa is a hardworking man.
