The African website ‘Opportunity Desk’ has chosen 20-year-old Siddhant Sarang of Muzaffarpur, Bihar as “OD Young Person of The Month”. Sarang is a climate activist and he is pursuing graduation in History from Delhi University. Siddhant is constantly active to develop understanding among the youth about environmental issues. Inspired by the terrible Koshi floods of Saharsa, Bihar at the age of 14, along with his classmates, created the ‘Youth Frontliners’ for environmental protection and started a monthly magazine for awareness.
Sarang was awarded the prestigious ‘Diana Award’ of England last year. He was also selected for Queens Commonwealth Trust Scholarship in 2019. Under this, 53 young leaders from 53 commonwealth nations were invited to participate in the International One Young Summit held in London on sustainable development issues. He represented India by attending this conference. The Opportunity Desk every month picks one young man from around the world for the title of ‘Young Person of the Month’ who inspires others, whose lives revolve around unique opportunities that have in one way or the other Has meaningfully shaped ideas, personal / career development, community engagement, innovation, success or social/global perspectives and actions.
They can come from all walks of life and can be of any age or background. Their stories will be used to inspire other young people to prepare themselves and take advantage of the opportunities presented on occasion.
